Requirements
Operations confirms the final requirements for each city before launch.
You
- A valid driver's licence, held for at least 2 years
- South Africa: a Professional Driving Permit (PrDP) where the law requires one for e-hailing
- A smartphone with mobile data
- A clear, recent photo of your face (no screenshots)
Your vehicle
- Roadworthy, clean and in good condition, with a valid licence disc
- Registered and insured
- Age limits depend on the vehicle class (newer cars for Comfort and Dark)
Documents you upload
- Required: driver's licence (number, front and back)
- Required: a facial photo
- Required: vehicle licence disc photo
- Optional: PrDP, national ID, vehicle registration, insurance certificate
Vehicle details and photos
- Make, model, year, colour and number plate
- Ride, Economy and Send: photos of the front and back of the car
- Comfort, XL and Dark: front, back, driver side, passenger side and interior
- Optional: your PayShap ID so riders can pay you directly

Questions
Does it cost anything to apply?
No. Applying is free. There is no sign-up fee and no subscription at launch.
What does 0% commission mean?
At launch Reed takes no commission from your fares. You keep 100% of what the rider pays for the trip. If this changes, we will tell you before it applies.
When does Reed launch?
Soon, city by city, subject to regulatory approval. Apply now so your documents are approved before launch. We will email you when the Reed Driver app is ready in your city.
Do I need a PrDP in South Africa?
Yes, where the law requires a Professional Driving Permit for e-hailing. Upload it in the PrDP slot if you have it; it does not stop you sending your application, and operations will tell you if anything is missing.
I already use the Reed rider app. Do I need a new account?
No. Use the same email. We add driving to your existing account, so one login works in both apps.
Can I finish my application later?
Yes. Each step is saved. We email you a link to continue, or go to www.reeddriver.com/drive/continue and sign in with your email.
How do you use my information?
Only to review your application and run Reed, as explained in our Privacy Policy. We never sell your data. You can delete your account and application at any time at www.reeddriver.com/account/delete.
